The I-105 ExpressLanes Improvement project is a major infrastructure initiative led by LA Metro and Caltrans District 7 to convert the existing HOV lanes into two ExpressLanes in each direction across the full 17-mile stretch of the I-105 Freeway. The project includes widening ramps, auxiliary lanes, and connecting surface streets to accommodate increased traffic flow and improve access to regional destinations. The expansion is being implemented in three phases, moving west to east, with Segment 1 spanning from just west of the 405 Freeway to Central Avenue in Watts. This segment passes through the cities of Los Angeles, Hawthorne, Inglewood, and the unincorporated LA County communities of Del Aire, Lennox, West Athens, and Willowbrook.

CL Survey is supporting this critical transportation upgrade by providing early works utility relocation surveying services along Segment 1. Our services ensure precise identification and mapping of underground and overhead utilities—an essential step in preparing for freeway lane additions, ramp expansions, and roadway realignments. Working in densely developed urban areas, CL Survey’s expertise in utility mapping helps minimize construction risks and supports accurate design and timely coordination between utility owners, contractors, and engineers. CL Survey’s contributions are vital to enabling Metro and Caltrans to move forward efficiently with this complex, multi-jurisdictional project that aims to reduce congestion, improve safety, and enhance mobility for millions of freeway users.
